We (me, wife, 3 kids between 8yo and 2yo) are going to be in DC over NYE, staying at a hotel near Lafayette Square. From Canada, first time in DC.

Any recommendations for activities to do the afternoon/evening of new year's eve and/or the morning of new year's day?

Or any recommendations for restaurants in the area?

Thanks!

Kids will like the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. All Smithsonian museums around the National Mall are open on New Years, so enjoy.

If you look up The Yards NYE, I think they do something at noon.

Yes they actually do noon years eve for children but the age skews much younger than 8… it is, as you may have guessed at noon.

Air & Space museum is extremely popular, but check if you need reservations.

The National Zoo is fun if the weather is mild .
