So rush hour before and after COVID aren’t the same. Look on the transit app or the metro trip planner and compare. I don’t think the metro is back to peak times

They can’t do this right now because the yellow line isn’t in service. They’re asking for other people’s experiences before the shut down both before and after COVID.

Ahhhh, the impossible answer. Before COVID and such so many variables. Post COVID but during construction way different. Trick question no one really knows.

This is not an official answer. I live in Silver Spring and I’ve had to go to the airport a few times since the shut down. Before the shut down, I would transfer from the red to the yellow line. Now that I have to transfer onto the blue line instead it’s been my experience that it takes 5 to 10 more minutes. I just don’t know what the actual trip time is.

Edit: so calculate the trip time from your start and end point using the blue line, and then subtract a few minutes. Not sure why I’m being downvoted for a much more helpful answer than had been given prior to my comment…

Once on the train it’s like 8 min or so

Once you are on the train at Gallery Place, 8-10 minutes depending on rush hour (more time as stations to allow more people on/off). Gallery Place, Archives, and L’Enfant are all very close together. The longest parts of that trip are loading/unloading at L’Enfant and then crossing the bridge.

Dude, you're being downvoted because your comment just said that it takes "5 to 10 minutes longer when transferring to the blue line" when the question was a) about what the previous time was (i.e., before the blue line transfer), b) about how long it takes on the yellow (you just said "add 5-10 minutes" but didn't say to what), and c) you actually admit that you don't know what the actual trip time is which is what the question was about.
