Exactly. If nothing else, OP would be able to find it in the bushes after the kids finish their joy ride. There are ways to hide air tags on a bicycle, and I suppose also on a scooter.

You should make it obvious it’s tagged. If they know they can be tracked, they’ll move on to the next one

If you show the tag directly, they could just remove the tag

So if you put an indicator/sign that it's tagged, that might work -- but in that case you don't even need to actually tag it.

If it’s mounted using screws that can’t easily be removed, they’ll move on. It’s about making your bike harder to steal than others
