Hi all,

I just got my permit and I’m looking for some wide open areas around DC to practice driving. Do you know any good empty parking lots or other spaces that aren’t too busy I can do this in?

This is the answer. People practice driving here all the time. Wide open.

This has been asked several times. If you search the sub, there should be a few helpful previous answers.

The Costco in NE. Huge parking in the area.

The arboretum that’s open till 5 most days. You can drive around and get some nice views.

Rock creek tennis courts off of 16th st NW, Google Carter Barron, usually nice and wide open. Good luck with your driving :)

I see people practicing their driving in the RFK lot by Kingman Island, right off of Benning Road.

The Anacostia Park early weekend mornings. It’s usually empty at that time. You can probably practice making left and right turns, joining a road from a stop, etc
