I might be moving to the region soon and have visited a few times and am familiar with the beer scene in the area but am curious if anyone can recommend a good natural wine store as I’ll be leaving a beautiful one behind in my current city! If anyone has any good cocktail restaurants that have a low key prohibition era vibe I’d love recommendations for that as well! Thank you!

They've got a curated set of spirits as well that included some very interesting selections.

I work at a shop called Grand Cata - we’re an awesome boutique and I’d say the vast majority of wines and producer we carry make wine in a low-to-no intervention/biodynamic/natural/garagiste/whatever you want to call it style. I don’t use the term natural a lot because it has different connotations to different people but either way, definitely pop on in. Two locations: one on 7th and Q NW in Shaw, one in La Cosecha in the Union Market district. Shaw also has a rad spirits selection, but union market has a bar - so head to both lol.

When I’m not buying at Grand Cata, I’m often buying at Weygandt Wines up on Connecticut Ave NW - a great store featuring tons of tiny producers in a similar vein. Very France/old world centric.

Also seconding Domestique, another great shop.

Seconding Weygandt, especially for affordable Burgundy and quality Riesling

Domestique on Florida ave deals exclusively with biodynamic and organic wine producers and has an awesome selection along with incredible staff. OKPB in Mt. Pleasant is a great little speakeasy that fits what you're looking for. I highly recommend both.

Mysa.wine has an entire natural wine guide for DC on their website. I found it to be really helpful

Sonny’s. They have a wine club tasting first Wednesday of every month. St. Vincent has a nice selection as well. I haven’t been through Le Mont Royale’s wine list yet, but since it’s Chas, it’s gotta be pet nat heavy.

Thank you all for the great recommendations! Definitely sad to leave the atmosphere my local shop provides behind but I’m excited to check out these options!
