My wife and I outgrew our community hospital and have a good connection at medstar but don't want to spend a lot of money staying there. We have a small converted van we camp in. Could we get away with sleeping in that? It's pretty stealth but does have lo profile solar panels on the roof. It fits in almost all the garages in dc.
Looks like their wife has cancer, so probably the second.

ive been doing that i need a bigger bed instead of the chair. it's been a couple weeks on and off.
Yeah I don't know medstars situation. I'd personally do it and then if someone has an issue figure it out after.
I had a bone marrow transplant and was an “in-out patient” or whatever they called it for two months. I stayed in a residential apartment owned by the hospital for two months. I had appointments everyday. Depending on my labs, I’d get whatever transfusion I needed. My daily appts we’re anywhere from 1 hour to 5. Staying in the residential apartment meant not staying in a hospital room with whatever lights. I was able to cook food with my car giver and feel somewhat normal. And I just walked over to my appt each day. I also walked rounds around the hospital to get steps in.
One taken for granted benefit was the air filtration. Air was supposedly sucked out of the building to help those (most) of us who were immunocompromised. If it’s just you living in the van I don’t think it’s an issue. I’d it were me, I’d be concerned about how clean things were.
Talk to the hospital's chaplin or social work office. Both should have resources about where to stay, how to get a bigger bed in your wife's room, or getting you situated with the van.
I doubt anyone would bother you for sleeping in your van in the parking lot. Better to asl forgiveness than permission.
I had to stay with someone in a hospital recently and discovered that a weird boxy chair in the corner actually converted into a somewhat comfy bed when you tug at various parts of it long enough to figure out how it works. Didn't look like it would do that at all, so make sure you're not missing anything there. Wasn't like an actual bed or anything but much much better than the recliner thing next to it that won't lay all the way flat.
