It's physically closer to Potomac Ave, but I would say it depends on what line you are coming in from. Maryland could be Green/Yellow which would require no switching lines straight into Navy Yard, or it could be Red which would require switching to get to either Navy Yard or Potomac Ave

Thanks, appreciate it. Coming in from New Carrollton, so Potomac would be a shorter ride as well. However, no big issue on a circuitous route if it’s a bad walk or no access from Potomac…not familiar at all with the area.

Oh, definitely go into Potomac Ave metro then. It's a straight shot. To go to navy yard would require switching lines just to have a further walk anyway.
