Hi all,

Coming in from Maryland on Thursday for a thing at Maritime Plaza. I hate driving into DC so looking at Metro options…is it an easier walk there from the Potomac Ave stop or Ballpark/Navy Yard stop? Thanks in advance!

It's physically closer to Potomac Ave, but I would say it depends on what line you are coming in from. Maryland could be Green/Yellow which would require no switching lines straight into Navy Yard, or it could be Red which would require switching to get to either Navy Yard or Potomac Ave

Navy Yard is a slightly longer walk. Depending on what direction you're coming from, I'd just do whatever one doesn't require a transfer.

Thanks, appreciate it. Coming in from New Carrollton, so Potomac would be a shorter ride as well. However, no big issue on a circuitous route if it’s a bad walk or no access from Potomac…not familiar at all with the area.

Potomac Ave is closer as the crow flies, but they're both a decent walk. About a mile.

As an alternate option, you can hop on the EM-LP Circulator bus from either Navy Yard (you want EM direction) or Eastern Market (one more stop on orange, you want LP direction). It will drop you at 8th and M which is only a few blocks (0.25 mile) down M St to get to Maritime Plaza. From Potomac Ave, you have to walk nearly all the way to 8th St anyways and then backtrack to get across the traintracks/freeway.

Circulator comes every 10 minutes and is free when transferring from Metro.

Maritime plaza used to have a shuttle that picked up in front of the Navy Yard metro, I think it still does, whoever you are visiting should have a sheet that says when/where pickup times are.

I work there and usually just walk up M street from Navy Yard when I need to go into the office, it’s a straight shot up M street. If you have any Flex Time coming or going the trail behind the navy yard that leads to maritime plaza is a pleasant walk

You’re probably best off going to the eastern market metro, then taking the bus. It’s not a bad walk from Eastern market though. maybe 10-15 min.

For the bus, you can use the congress heights circulator, 90 or 92 bus. Get off by the O st gate at the navy yard, and walk under the 395 over pass. The stop to get on the bus is right in front of the Starbucks, just outside the metro.

Have you checked Capital South (Orange/Blue/Silver Line)? It provides direct access to the northern part of Navy Yard via New Jersey Ave.

I use this all the time, as it saves me time than transferring at L'Efant to green line (Navy Yard/Ballpark Station) , and I live on the northern part of Navy yard near the Whole Foods.
