It has to be fought later when we have technology to shoot down all of those nukes. Right now we do not and can only tamper.

EDIT - you can down vote me all you want kids, but the reality is America will not step in knowing a Nuke can hit our soil. We’re already in a precious location, separated by two bodies of water. But the fact is we do not have a sufficient Iron Dome technology deployed to fight hypersonic nukes.

It's really not.

NATO, and the US in particular, will do everything they can to support Ukraine from afar and see Russia weakened as a result, but if it comes down to choosing between WW3 or abandoning Ukraine to Russia, nobody's going to pick WW3, which is exactly why Putin won't STFU with all the nuke threats.

He has only two ways out of this clusterfuck:

  • keep fighting a war of attrition and praying his economy holds out while he tries to manipulate public opinion through his troll farms and to interfere in overseas elections to get pro-Russian parties into power so that support Ukraine dwindles. ^*

  • make the Western world believe that you're willing to start WW3 and kill the entire planet, whilst hiding in a bunker and making sure nobody close to you thinks you're that crazy so that they don't assassinate you.

Putin is a fascist dictator. He is making nuclear threats to scare his opponents into submission. Giving in is what he wants us to do which is why we can't.

No one is going to give putin land over nuke threats. NATO has made it pretty clear. Putin is still losing and actually backed off his nuke threats again today. He's completely outmatched and there's no way for him to win this war.

Iron Dome was never invented to shoot down ICBMs and it has no chance against Hypersonic missiles. It gets even more difficult now that Hypersonic missiles exist. Hypersonic missiles have a much shallower trajectory. The best time to intercept an ICBM is immediately after launch or as it is on final descent. ICBMs have counter measures and also dummy warheads so all warheads need targeting and destroying. Anyway your main point stands if there was technology to eliminate ICBMs USA. UK and Europe would have ended this war already.
