I feel like SK is in a constant state of high alert. Seems like they gotta scramble their jets for one reason or another every week.

Can anyone explain to me why China periodically does this to their neighboring countries? What is the reason?

Test the waters mate

Also you can learn how a country reacts to these situations, how long it takes them to respond with their air defense etc.

China might want to keep this information. Or maybe just keep everyone on their toes.

> South Korea's military said it scrambled fighter jets Wednesday as six Russian and two Chinese warplanes entered its air defense zone without notice.

> Seoul's Joint Chiefs of Staff said the Chinese H-6 bombers repeatedly entered and exited the Korea Air Defense Identification Zone near South Korea's southern and northeastern coasts early Wednesday.

> "Around the same time, what appears to be two Russian aircraft flew south over the Sea of Japan and then turned around," it said, adding that it had scrambled jets in response.
