It's not your land, if other people don't think it is :) What would china say, if taiwan dumbs some sand into the sea and claims it as their island and their territory?

The Spratly Islands are recognized sovereign territory of various sovereign nations, including Taiwan, but not including China. Their geographical location is also closer to Taiwan than that of Mainland China. They do not own the ocean, nor do they have any right to claim the US violated their international waters in an area that is no way a part of their territory.

China does have military installations on several islands, but Japan isn't US territory because it has a US military base, just like none of those islands are officially recognized as China's.

Nope. You cant just say you own something that you dont own. That's not how reality works.
And i dont think China wants to live in a world where that is the case, otherwise people can just say they own China and they cant do anything about it.

Why do we still bifurcate trade and national security in the face of CCP provocations that will one day likely lead to war as the article says…sigh
