Peaceful protests do not work in authoritorian regimes such as China, Iran or Russia. They only lead to thousands in jails with no real change. Only way to get freedom is to somehow turn army and police against people in power and give power to competent, liberal politicians.

Peaceful protests don't work period. The establishment will never change unless forced to, it's not just a Russia/China/Iranian thing. It's the same in France, in the UK, and in America. Our peaceful protests have never gone anywhere without the backing of people performing direct action.
