This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 82%. (I'm a bot)

> Peru has detained six people, including three police generals, as part of an ongoing probe into accusations of corruption against former President Pedro Castillo, who was impeached and removed from office earlier this month.

> An anticorruption task force in the attorney general's office said on Monday that it carried out a "Mega-operation" as part of its investigation into allegations that Castillo's government authorised "Irregular promotions" for police and military officers.

> Three of the six people arrested are active police generals accused of having approved promotions, with Castillo's alleged blessing, in exchange for money.

I wonder what the truth is. Right-wing elitists resenting and undermining a grass roots president, or left-wing elitists trying to force their agenda.

I'm a total lefty, but Castillo tried to dissolve the parliament and rule by decree. Plus he's not leftist in the way you Western folks think he is (he's very conservative and opposes same sex marriage and what they call "gender ideology" in conservative contexts).

Fuck him and fuck our (Mexican) president for perpetuating shitty Latin American autocracy that disguised as leftist politics.

In Perú the police is a national entity. It’s official name is Policía Nacional, and they report all the way up to the central government, not local entities. The also have a similar rank like the military. So yeah… they have Generals. Weird.
