Hey Nvidia or AMD, tell you what, send me a gpu and then if you need it back just let me know and send me a box to mail it back to you. I will store it for you for free <3

Not to mention ridiculous pricing on the latest line of graphics cards. (Nvidia, looking at you.)

Same with AMD cards too. RX 7900 series being sold for up to 1600€ in Europe is just absolutely idiotic.

The amount of cars sitting in huge lots being offloaded from ships in Philly is something j haven’t seen in some time.

If car prices don’t drop swiftly, car dealers are gonna have a problem.

Its 45k for a new minivan, hell even a camry is now 30k. Don't even get me started on truck prices.

Yeah they’re high but I see the commercials they’re handing out tons of cash and finally seeing things under and at MSRP again.

This is the cheapest I have seen chips in some time. You can buy practically anything from Intel or AMD on sale.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist or anything but it seems like on the GPU side the supply is being artificially restricted

This is a good thing.

Find a new equilibrium, use the time to better develop new tech.

How can you pay for R&D if you are making less money?

mtarascio t1_j1uqx6k wrote

Because it's budgeted and necessary to make breakthroughs to have the new chips attractive again.

They've been feeding, time to put back some of that in investment.

If they’re not making any money they can’t invest money. When your revenue goes down, your operating expenses go down as well

It's cycles mate. They use debt off the stored value of their good times, whether via market cap or stock buybacks.

You can enact austerity if you're an idiot.

That’s not how a business works. You don’t burn cash when you are t making it. They’ll be doing r&d for sure, but when you have less cash coming in and more inventory building, the solution is not spend more money to sell a new product when the old ones are selling

What are you talking about? They're all bragging about making record profits in one camera, then sobbing tears of pain in another basically asking for more funding and artificially limiting supplies while increasing prices.

No information actually in this article. Just a bunch of stock prices.

can’t they create chips to put into robots that manufacture more chips?

I noticed everyone who has argued for the mega corporations rights and worshiped capitalism isn't laughing so much now that they have to throw down possibly thousands of extra dollars for "dealership market correction fees" if they're not waiting years in line for a new vehicle, or spending twice their PC hardware budget on just a GPU.
