I didn’t say the government will, I said they should. I have never seen convincing data that handgun ownership (or CCLs) decrease crime, though gun ownership certainly increases risk of death by firearm. Also, why are you making things up about defunding the police when the current budget is the highest its ever been?

Yes, most gun crime uses illegal guns. Nearly all of them started as legal, and then were straw purchased, trafficked or stolen. So while the government needs to step up enforcement of crimes that can catch people carrying illegal firearms. But the original source is the legal market, which ultimately needs to be curbed

That makes sense. I would love to see state and federal change to ban/collect/destroy handguns but failing that the city needs to up its efforts. But handguns are so easily to conceal and smuggle that I don’t know how you do that without upping community policing and using more cameras.
