I'm sorry to hear about your situation. Myself/and friends have had to do this several times recently. We did the work ourselves having Greendrop or Veterans Charity schedule a pick up. I would suggest if your grandmother is not mentally alert. Go through her clothing and furniture. Our relative had hidden cash for emergency we think. They were of modest means but we found a substantial amount they didn't remember. A friend had to fix a leak at his grandfathers and there were rolls of cash in the basement pipe area. His parents had no idea the cash was there. Good luck on helping your parents and grandmother its not easy.

I used to deliver the SL and the Elizabeth Daily Journal in the late 60's with my siblings before school. I loved the really local coverage of the DJ. If your name was in a column for anything it got clipped and put on the fridge. One thing I remember is everyone paid cash in the little green envelopes we would leave on Saturday for payment on Sunday. Local legend had it that the gentleman who sold the early version of the Sunday Ledger on Saturday night under the Elmora St train underpass in Elizabeth was a millionaire from selling the paper!!!

That picture could be anywhere along the Central Railroad on the Northside or Southside of route 28 from Elizabeth to Cranford. Then from Cranford to Scotch Plains on the Raritan Valley line. The amount of apartments built in the last 10 years is staggering with no end in sight. The small town vibes of Roselle Park, Cranford, Garwood, and Westfield along the corridor has been changed for better or worse I suppose.
