It's the Philly bar, so game days will be a shit show. It's normally fairly tame otherwise.

There's probably a small group room you can use. Post Covid, libraries have kinda become gathering spaces, not just quiet places

Yeah, always work as if it's live, but still, when you're on a hirail vehicle, not being 100% certain that another train isn't going to come on to your track is terrifying

It's less about rider safety and more about trackside worker safety. Even platform barriers are more about protecting the train drivers from the trauma of someone stepping out in front in a suicide attempt than protecting riders from doing so.

>They typically de-energize whenever contractors need to work on ROW.
The procedures/"lock out/tag out" process, at least from the contractor POV seems very loosey goosey and there's a lot less emphasis on exclusive track occupancy and defined on track protection methods than I'm used to.

I don't know the exact details of why MBTA doesn't have them, but in the other systems I've worked for, the little paddle on the rail car that contacts the third rail does it on the underside, so a cover doesn't interfere with that

Fun Fact: the third rail on the Boston systems (red, blue, orange) almost always don't have covers. This is not something that's a part of their design standards. On every other subway system I've done work for, they at least attempt to keep covers on the third rail.
As someone who's worked as a consultant/contractor for several different transit and rail agencies, MBTA's approach to ontrack safety is downright terrifying.

I love it when people who have clearly lived in an urban area for less than 5 years complain about the T. Do you not realize how good we have it?
*yes, I know compared to literally any other continent, the T is trash, but within the US, it's an easy top 5 system, probably top 3.

Read the instructions on the 1099R again. Pretty certain that if no taxes were withheld, it's not something you need to report. So you should only be entering the Fidelity 1099, not the Vanguard one.

NGL, $25k wouldn't have been enough for me to switch unless I had seen concrete plans that my previous concerns about longevity/stability of the company had been addressed. That's barely 15% and if there's no succession plan in place and something happens in the next few months? Yikes.
I'd stick where you are.

Thirding Bova's. Also excellent price for what you're getting.
My fiance is a HUGE tiramisu fan and Bova's was well received. Whole Foods is a bit mushy and light on the flavor by comparison, but still perfectly good since it's more convenient for us.

Reply to Lasik recommendation by Broad-Assignment-322
Fiance had it done at TLC recently and while he would recommend the procedure in general, TLC didn't do a great job on the aftercare. They scratched his cornea during the procedure and installed a bandage to let it heal (with verbal instructions that it could probably come out in about a week), but didn't schedule any kind of followup to have it removed. It took 2 weeks, multiple calls, and a threat to go to the Board of Opthalmology before they would schedule a follow-up appointment and remove the bandage. His eyesight is great now though, just wouldn't recommend TLC.

There's also a fairly decent limited series made in 2001, Uprising that does a pretty decent fictionalized retelling.
