Reply to LPT: Save at least 1 voicemail from your loved ones. You may just want to hear their voice if they’re not around. by bunnieollie
OP: back up that voicemail file to a personal drive if you haven't already: they often get lost in a phone move and may be lost if you change phone carrier as well.

Reply to LPT-A creative way of punishing children, is to get the them to write a 100 words about a topic and print it for you. It can be something about their life, interests, or goals. It will engage them for just a short time. Keep and later return in a folder. Parents can use instead of grounding. by Ricwil12
This trains them that schoolwork is a punishment.

Reply to LPT: If you're checking a bag on a flight, mark it so it's easily identifiable from a distance, especially if the bag is black. I tie a bright red ribbon on the handle. This makes it much easier to spot on the carousel or if someone else tries to walk away with it. by ihavethebestmarriage
I personally ribbon the zipper pulls and have a bag tag. Have more than one identifier: luggage has it rough in transit and stuff falls off all the time.
If you can, get brightly colored or patterned luggage for the same reason, thousands of bags are black or navy or brown: much fewer are brilliant green.

Reply to LPT: If you have to contact someone to tell them about the passing of a family member, call them in the morning rather than evening. They'll have all day to try to come to terms with it, rather than stay up all night a broken wreck. by [deleted]
Situational. If they have to work it's going to be a very bad time to inform them.

Smart tip actually, life happens, even for adults: look at the Wii years and how many replacement TVs were suddenly needed.

Reply to ELI5: Why can’t we make spaceships that are seen in shows like Lost In space? I’ve never been able to understand this. by FoxLoser
We don't have enough study on the effect on humans or the levels in deeper space yet to create radiation shielding safe enough to venture far in space, nor the technology to power engines & life support to travel fast enough to make proper space travel feasible (plus the constraints of storing enough fuel, food and other supplies to travel that far). For example, Voyager 2 took 50 years to exit our solar system. Our communications systems are also not yet advanced enough for a mission of such, taking 16 hours to reach or return from Voyager (utterly useless in a true emergency)

Talk to the councillors, I'm sure they have people literally all the time with parental refusal, there may be something they can do to help. Congrats on getting in to your college of choice! Keep searching for scholarships, there are tons out there so one is bound to be a match.

I still have so many wood splinters in my pants. This tip did not help me at all.

I can't imagine having to go that slow for any serious length work commute let alone full highway travel. Trying to visit family would have been a nightmare
