Reply to Is there a charger which can charge my Xbox series s PlayStation 4 PlayStation 5 and Nintendo switch controllers? by adventures_in_dysl
I'm not aware of any chargers that have 3 different charging ports. A USB C one should be able to do both the XBSS and PS5 controllers though.

When xbox hard drives die it usually makes the console boot to black screen. It's pretty easy to replace hard drives in both ps4 and xb1s though.
They just die all the time. I get 2 or 3 in my work a week for HDD replace. We use 1TB ssd's.

Series X is the current generation xbox. Anything that came before is last gen.

PS5 and Series X are essentially the same console. The series S is technically a last gen machine but it' still a great choice. You should look at what games you're interested in for each and choose from that.

Pc isn't cheaper anymore. A ps5 / xbox series X has pretty good graphical capability and you'd have to spend more than what those consoles cost new to outperform them on PC.

Online services will shut down eventually. And if you don't have all the content you paid for downloaded to your machine then you will lose it forever. Having a disc / cart slot is always better than not. You can always just buy digital versions of games and not use disks.

YLOD can mean that the cpu has come off of the mobo. This is fixable but you'll want an experienced solderer.

A ps3 would be good. They are cheap and easily hacked, meaning you don't have to buy games if you don't want. Don't even need a CD drive really. If you replace the hard drive in it with an SSD then you won't have to worry about it failing either.

I think Google stadia was onto something. With this generation of consoles manufacturers are figuring out that hardware doesn't make a lot of money but games do. So I'm thinking that future consoles will just be a Roku like stick that just streams games from a central server.

They didn't. The performance is highly dependent on the game. I know this is true because part of the repair process we do when fixing busted hdmi ports is to test them. We let them run for about 20 minutes on our 4k test tv. We have copies of madden 22 for both, and we let the ai play a game against itself.
Having seen this for dozens of hours on both I can safely say that they are near enough identical.

I have taken many apart as I work in an electronics repair shop. Today I've done 2 ps5's. Yes, they are practically the same hardware wise. There are minor differences but the end result is the same. If you don't believe me check wikipedia.

Technically they've released different hardware revisions already but for an actually different console no, it would be a while still.

The purpose of "slim" versions is to reduce cost of production by eliminating as many parts as possible. Right now the digital edition only has one moving part, the fan. If they do make a slim it will be in years time.
