Hunting is everywhere unless the property is posted. You can look up the Vermont Fish and Wildlife regulations. There are different seasons you should be aware of. Rifle season is the main one. But its shorter than the rifle season in FL. In rural areas (most of VT) you might hear folks target practicing or sighting in guns in preparation for hunting. It's not a big deal.

The drugs/crime level in VT are super low compared to FL, even in the worst spots. It's all relative.
Figure out if you can be ok with being away from city things like grocery stores, takeout, movies, etc. I'm 45 min from the nearest stoplight and get my groceries once a month. I live in a pretty rural area (obviously). If you need those city trappings, you'll have to live in a larger town. Best of luck with the housing situation.
Btw, I grew up in VT but moved to FL in my early 20s. I escaped 16 years later and moved back home. Best decision ever.

My friends and I used to visit with the "Ponders" in high school. They were nice enough, but I suppose most cults are at first!

Jim's is still there. Not sure how it stays open! BF is in a much better situation than it was when I went to high school there. It was a real mess then. It's gotten so much better!

I have a 2009 civic with studded tires. The major limitation is the ground clearance. But I live on the side of a mountain at 1800' (we get a lot of snow) and I can almost always make it up our insane driveway (which is coincidentally a great sledding hill). A civic with good tires will get you most places but its no match for my hubby's Tacoma in 4WD (obviously)

We just bought a 20' container and it was $4000 delivered. Those prices you see for $1700 and whatnot are before delivery. Delivery is expensive.

This isn't a blizzard though. Just your typical nor'easter. If what you have are things that go over your boots for traction, they won't be of much help. Those are for ice...

My sister has had to do shows with the owner. Apparently she's an a-hole. I've been discouraged from buying any more of their stuff for that reason. Unfortunate.

Vermont is liberal but also a big gun supporting state. There are a lot of gun owners here...
