As an Aussie, it makes me cringe listening to the pre sequel's dialogue. Especially strange since it was made by 2k Australia who should have known better.

No one watches zp to make an informed purchasing decision

There was a free to play fps called combat arms, it had a weapon loaning system where you rented guns for up to 90 days for in game currency (that you had to grind for) and obviously it was better than your default gun. Guns had premium variants that were straight upgrades. You could also pay to get grenade launchers and shit. It was so blatantly pay to win, it makes me cry thinking about it since it was a reasonably fun arcadey shooter.

You could also try 7 days to die. I got addicted to it pretty hard and it's on gamepass as well.

The original deus ex kind of fits the bill. The best weapon for a stealth playthrough in the game was a silenced pistol, outclasses even sniper rifles for long range stealth kills. Whack.

I don't even think the game was that bad! They did interesting things with the skill trees like seeing Wilhelm slowly transforming into a machine and claptrap being... Claptrap..
Much better than the skill trees we got for borderlands 3, which had the best weapons of any borderlands game to date.
