Pretty dumb advice, considering southeast has some nice and safe areas. I think people who give that advice say “SE” when they mean “EOTR”

The older neighborhood residents with the money don’t want it to be a destination neighborhood for nightlife. They make it very difficult— also the rents are very high.

This isn’t remotely true. There are some estimates that proportion of people don’t have cash reserves on hand to handle an emergency with cash if they didn’t get a paycheck— but that doesn’t mean they’d be homeless. There are lots of sources of liquidity most people can tap before that happens, nevermind getting some temporary help from family or friends.

20-25% isn’t cheap — don’t base anything off of a twitter thread.

I’m sorry this happened and I hope you get your car back, but you probably should be filing a police report and going to your insurance company, not trying to crowdsource the thing on Reddit. Not sure what the end goal is here — someone says yeah I saw that car driving down near Union Market and… what is step 2?

Ears pierced is a security question? Last flight you took? Come on. If it’s first car, elementary school, that’s one thing. These guys were just playing a drinking game. Lie to them. Ignore them. Who cares. But nobody was in danger here.
Real identity thieves don’t go through elaborate crap like this, they buy your stuff on the dark web.

Bowser is the toughest-on-crime politician DC will ever elect. The problem is all the Charles Allens and Brianne Nadeaus and Elissa Silvermans on the council

Yeah, but—and hear me out on this— it’s really bad to have bullets flying around the city regardless of who they’re intended for; people in dangerous neighborhoods deserve safety too; and ultimately the more this stuff happens the easier it is for it to break out of these patterns.
