Yeah, I initially only saw the preview picture (where the bottom sign is cropped out) and thought that was the entire thing.

I was just thinking the exact same thing!!! I understand it, and the rationale behind it fine sitting here sober, but if it was my first time drinking in that bar and I'd had a few and needed to piss I would be like "so...does that mean there's a subpar urinal in the other one?"

Reply to comment by OptimusPhillip in Is there a special term for convenience stores that also sell pizza and sandwiches? by Saltycook
It is in the South, but throughout most of New England, most gas station convenience stores sell chips, candy bars, and beverages, but most do not have hot food like pizza or sandwiches, though I think it is becoming more common. Even the places that do have hot food are often chains, and so the food isn't as good as the convenience stores in Maine and northern New Hampshire that are locally owned and operated independent shops with pizza and sandwiches comparable to a local pizza joint, often a good local pizza joint.

But in your scenario, you are comparing it to a plane, and stating that buying a plane ticket is cheaper than buying a plane. Well, yes, but that's because the airline makes money selling many plane tickets (and service fees and add ons) to many individuals.
Maine power consumers are on the hook for the entire cost to generate and distribute the power, whether it is done privately or publicly. CMP aren't doing it for charity, any cost they incur, they are recouping through rate hikes and then some.
So would you rather pay for the entire plane, plus maintenance, plus fuel, plus pilots and air traffic controllers, plus any other cost of owning and operating the plane, plus A BUTT LOAD OF PROFIT for the people who own the plane, or would you rather own the plane yourself?
