I love the idea of humans being the space orcs. Every other space-faring species is fragile and civilized compared to the eraticly destructive and counter-intuitive ways of humanity

I decimated the land; razed its mountains to the ground, burned the very foundations of their culture. There was nothing, only ash in heaps like a black desert.

When my king sent men to salt the ground, I wept. I had fought so hard to liberate the countryside for my people, but my people would not be able to use it. Tears flooded the dips of the ashen dunes, muddled with the blood of 3 dozen soldier's heads skewered on pikes, encircling the area. Not even the buzzards dared to feast upon them.

In time, the ashes were disturbed by a new tribe of man. They woke from beneath the earth and drank from the rivers of my ire to quench their charred and parched throats. Then they inhaled life, the winds of change filling them with curiosity and adventure. They began to stand and to walk about the scarred landscape. They learned to speak with each other and together they cried, for theirs was a doomed fate.

Pitty imbedded itself in my heart, and sprouted a tree of fruit from which I had power to pluck. I gave it to them, and taught them to open it. They learned to eat of its flesh, and to propagate its seeds, so that their children might taste it one day too. The Ire Rivers, as they would be called by man, flourished with life. They knew bountiful harvest from soil laden with the nourishing silt of forgotten lives. They knew peace everlasting, protected by the daunting Pillars of Loyal Fallicy. The heads were now perrified in the wood of wreathes once placed upon them. They are now a ring of wide trees that bare the haunting look of fear the soldier's wore that dreadful day. Not even the bravest of raiders cross the threshold of their roots.

I watch them, playing, growing, dying. They live short lives, but filled with eternal joy. Nestled in their pocket of peace, they thrived as a society and advanced. The once harsh air was now enjoyed by many for its sweet floral fragrance, and the water once salty with tears was now fresh with life and ecosystems. My sword, once plunged into the ground in triumphant victory on a battlefield of fire and flesh, now stood tall in the center of their city. When threats would emerge, I would come down from the heavens to take up the blade in their defense. Dragons, liches, falling stars, all bested to protect them.

And they worship me as their god. They pray and make rituals, thinking I will hear them better. I hear them. I cannot give them what they ask, but for as long as my wits are sharp, and my hand unbound, I will ensure their livelyhood no matter the cost.

World peace had been achieved. Starvation was barely a memory. The earth had blossomed anew, global warming had ceased, polution was a thing of the past. There were no leaders, no foes, only neighbors and friends. Everyone lived forever, and there was somehow always enough space and resources for them. The stars had been explored, new species discovered (or created), and everyone had superpowers.

"What more can your kind ask for?" The genie inquired. He was gnarled and old, and despite the milky white clouds in his eyes, I could sense he saw much.

"Freedom," I replied.

The scowl that he'd worn since I'd entered fell. He turned his ear towards me and put a hand to it. "Pardon?"

"I wish for your freedom."

A smile crept slowly across the genie's face. "Child, what makes you think I am a prisoner?"

"You've lived here for centuries granting mankind endless blessings, and not one for yourself."

"If I had the power to free myself, don't you think I would have?" He asked.

"Then why haven't you?" I could see the pain that suddenly swelled in his chest, yet his smile remained.

He chuckled. "You're unlike your brethren. Even the purest who come here wish for selfish things. To fly, to end war, to live when they should not. All of these things I have done." The genie stands and stretches his skinny legs. They crack and crinkle and pop before he steps toward me. He was easily 4 feet taller then I was. "If I go free, I take these blessings with me. Would you truly wish that for you and your people?"

I knew this would happen. We all learned about the genie as children, and how capturing it brought us our fortune. "I cannot live soundly in a world built upon the labors of the chained," I said.

The genie looked genually surprised now. He put a hand on my shoulder, tears welling in his eyes. He pulls me into a hug as chains of smoke materialize. Shackles around his wrists and ankles kept him bound to the cave by a bridge of chain links to the back wall. One after another, the links popped and shattered, dissipating until all were gone.

The genie breaks the hug and looks me in the eyes. Tears streamed down his cheeks now. "You have my gratitude, child of man. For so many years I have longed to see the sun again. I will taste the rain and feel its coolness. I will live, not only by being alive. And for you, I will grant my boon. Enjoy the wishes of humanity, they now survive in you alone."

With that, he stepped out of the cave's mouth, and disappeared into the beaming rays of sunlight.

What the book doesn't tell you is that the level of demon depends on the size of the soul. And since bacteria are barely considered alive, my demon is more of a chaotic evil blob of gelatin. He wiggles menacingly, squirts slime to stain clothes, eats only living rodents, and I think it grows. Its hard to say but I'm pretty sure its at least a few inches bigger than yesterday. It smells lile cherries, but touching it burns like acid so maybe I can launch it at my enemies? In some kind of demon-slime trebuchet? Ugh, I never should have tried to scam the dark ones. Now I have a pet with no concern for life that can't die (I tried) instead of a powerful mega-evil demon to help me take over the world.

"My new roommate is a demon slime who eats rats? He'll help me rule the world!" <- title of the anime this turns into probs.
