Even if I agree with you on that (which I actually do) no one should expect to get paid if they go on strike. That’s the cost of striking. Management is not and should not be required to pay you and provide benefits when you don’t show up. I run a small business and I can’t imagine having to pay someone for not working.

I’m familiar with what a TA is. Saying “kids” is both a euphemism for their naïveté and an acknowledgement that I’m an old guy. Regardless, the point stands. You know they get an education and health insurance along with their pay. And they are not trained teachers. What do they think should happen when they walk out of work? In PA especially. I mean get real. Looks like some profs will need to grade their own papers for a while I guess

Life lesson kids. If you stop working your employer can stop paying you.

So yeah I hope someone a lot more articulate than you takes up this cause. It’s a good one and there is work to be done, but you are definitely going nowhere. Your entitled attitude will turn off people who agree with you….

To keep from alienating people you might want to avoid using words like “our demands.” Just doesn’t sound very good. Talk to people about what you think the government or society should do for working people. Don’t think you can demand anything of anyone else. Get people on your side with good ideas.

Don’t confuse a deduction with a credit. Child care is deductible (to a rather low limit). It’s not a tax credit.

Anyone have a link to the actual terms of the deal? This headline reads like these guys can’t call off, but I think they already have paid personal time. They want seven additional paid days specifically for being sick (plus a 20% raise).

I’m just kidding. Of course someone should pay you for not working, and if they don’t you’re clearly being exploited.
