For what itā€™s worth, street parking in nyc is free and a parking spot in jersey city is already included in my rent. Also we live in LUXURY city, so i assume most have enough money for those things. Otherwise yes, you are stuck dealing with the woes of public transportation.

Iā€™m gonna get a lot of downvotes for this, but anytime I go into the city that is not during the weekday, I drive. So either (a) get a car, (b) make friends with people who have a car, or (c) get a boyfriend who has a car. Life is too short to be dealing with non-rush hour PATH. And the MTA subway ainā€™t much better either. Uber/Lyft will often cancel or not accept the ride late at night because they donā€™t want to pay the toll to get back into the city, had that happen many times.

Yea I got the sense that OP wanted to live the sex in the city life style or the glamorized YouTube influencer life that you see plastered all over social media. I wouldnā€™t recommend anybody move to nyc just to scrape by when they can live comfortably wherever they were from originally. Nyc has its benefits, but nothing worth living under the poverty line for.

No doubt it can be done, but yaā€™ll are scarping by. Hell I make six figures and I feel like Iā€™m scraping by. Itā€™s no way to live, sharing an apt with with like 3 roommates, skipping meals, not being able to go out on weekends. Letā€™s not kid ourselves, if you donā€™t make decent money already you shouldnā€™t drop everything and move to nyc just cause. Itā€™s not worth it. Come here for vacation instead, but letā€™s not glamorize the working 3 jobs just to pay rent and eat instant ramen every day lifestyle.
