yeah, 400/month, 5% interest. these aren't terms that are beyond your means. Also, it is for a new car from a reliable brand that will last you easily 7-10 years. Not the most pragmatic decision but sometimes you need to treat yourself. It sounds like you are doing that and it is within your means too.

Honestly, it doesn't need to be just going to the gym. You could switch to a home gym/workout. A set of weights and a stationary bike is all you need.

I burnout out from going to the gym 4-6 times a week and ended up gaining more weight because I ate out more and wasted time traveling to the gym. It impacted my social life quite a bit too because 2+ hours of my weeknights after work is spent going to the gym. It was often a choice between hanging out with friends vs. going to the gym. Working out at home means I could get home by 5:30, workout and clean up by 6:30 and hangout with friends or cook. Now, I easily maintain 5-6 workouts every week, and exercising no longer impacts my social life or cooking as much.

The important thing is finding what works for you. Just because all the social media gym bro goes to the gym and spends 2 hours there doesn't mean that's what will work for you. Similarly, home gym isn't for everyone either, someone people lose all motivation to work out at home, some prefer to go running instead of any gym, etc. Find what is the "easiest" to fit into your lifestyle and it will feel much less like a chore.

honestly... I don't feel like physical scores are that important. There are plenty of jobs in the military that really never need any physicality to it... but academic scores... that's like the police academy I was teaching at allowing cadets to fail one out of three law classes because they were just struggling to pass all three classes.

during my job interview with USC, an admin said she felt it was wrong that I described myself as a Southeast Asian because I am "Chinese." She felt many Asian American "abuse" the label of SEA to get more diversity points and she wondered how I would address that if confronted by a student from SEA.

I'm not American. I'm from Malaysia.

Sure, but that investigation concluded in August. Before the new season started... Not that banning him then would have made any difference since he hardly featured for the team anyway.

This is the problem with most non-clinical "personality" tests. They are quite easy to just fake it and get a specific score you want. Even the Big 5, which is probably the most scientifically sound "personality" test can easy be faked to get the personality type you are trying to get.

The science around the categories is sound (the relationship the categories have with work performance, leadership quality, etc.). But the problem is really the ability for one to fake their profile.

Think about it like the Love Language test. What the research says about a person's preference when it comes "Quality Time" category is accurate. But the problem is, you can just answer the questionnaire in a particular way and you can tell what group you will get. (Love Language test has other problems, but I'm just using it for comparison to "personality" testing here).

On the other hand, many clinical personality tests have robust validity scales to catch you faking good or faking bad. E.g. the MMPI is one of the more commonly used clinical personality tests for employment. Though, most companies would not use it because it cost a lot more money and you need a licensed psychologist to interpret it. But, a lot of money and research is put into studying clinical personality tests and the questions are often well-guarded secrets. All this makes it much harder to fake.
