The retirees will not have increased costs.

The fact that it was started under De Blasio is relevant. I would say De Blasio has pretty solid progressive Bona Fides and he was ready to make this transition. This is because the City has a limited budget and cannot deficit spend. If we are not switching to Medicare Advantage we are going to either cut spending elsewhere or raise taxes.

We’re talking about small shops that survived but still haven’t restored late night hours. For instance Wo Hop closes at 10 now.

EVs are much greener than internal combustion engines when considering the entire lifecycle of either including resource extraction and disposal.
The grid will need to be upgraded, but nothing we can’t handle.
Gasoline is a finite resource. At current consumption levels we will run out within a few decades.

We’re clearly going to transition away from internal combustion engines towards electric vehicles, and electric vehicles are clearly better for the planet. What’s the shenanigans part?

The bleak parts of Flushing around sky view mall and Citi Field are something we need to talk about. Things do not need to be that ugly.
