I’ve heard gunfire twice in or near the fan in the last month.

There isn’t a single neighbourhood in the city, where I haven’t heard gunfire at night. Celebratory or otherwise.

I’ve lived in 7 states and Virginia was the least “user friendly” for new first-time residents of them all.

This right here is the standard and typical City of Richmond tax experience. I initially moved to the city (Southside) because I don’t like suburbs at all.
The City of Richmond is so fucking incompetent and up its own ass I promptly moved to Henrico at the end of my lease. I hate that city’s government on a cellular level and the car tax issue was just one of several negative experiences I had in that year. Richmond City is so bad I’d rather live in a meh suburb than a shitty city.

The way people drive between Leigh and Bacon Streets is the far bigger danger to pedestrians than anything coming out of Gilpin Court.

I was lucky. My teacher loved using fire in class and was well known in my tiny rural school for having the coolest demonstrations.

> Also you would pass "Gilpin Court" which is a very sketch neighborhood that you might feel uncomfortable walking by--especially at night.
From Leigh St to Laburnum Ave Chamberlayne can be rather unpleasant to walk. Nice neighborhoods flanking either side, but Chamberlayne itself sucks.
Gilpin Court is a public housing project.

I too refuse to be a patron. Back when I worked food delivery, I declined every order from them. I do not tolerate sexism or shitty bosses or stupid public tantrums on business social media. They’re a cesspit of all three of those.

I haven’t been to a proper sit-down restaurant in over 2 years because we’ve been fucking broke. I’m tired of even existing at this point.

It doesn’t help that a 2023 F-150 is about the same size as a 2003 F-350. Trucks and SUVs are too big and should be regulated in terms of height. Downvote away.

I would love to see 2/3rds of all drivers licenses revoked. Unfortunately that would strand tens of millions of people who through no choice of their own were born in a country that forces car ownership by way of providing no alternatives.

I don’t believe people are genuinely confused. I think they maliciously and/or deliberately disobey them. I see people gunning for the gas and straddling the center of the road so they hit them.

I’ll have to check. I thought it was still state property. If it is now city property, that fence will remain for years to come.
Edit.
> There are now plans to remove the fence since the land is now owned by Richmond instead of the state, according to James Nolan, press secretary for Mayor Levar Stoney.
Article over a year old, fence over 2 years old. We’re all going to die with the fence still up.

If we made our infrastructure walkable and if we could chip away at the cultural hostility we have towards walking up to 1 mile, we could probably make a decent reduction in traffic, traffic accidents, and pollution.

Richmond City is doing Richmond City things by dragging their feet for years.

I first encountered one on Charles St near Horsepen. I initially thought someone just randomly threw a bunch of cones in the middle of the road.
