To be frank, reading is also a skill that you have to re-learn how to do from time to time.

Do you, perhaps focus too much on reading the books that "score well" and get good reviews but don't do much for you?
You need to think of a topic and get something out of it. Or at least read stuff you are genuinely interested in. It's hard to explain, but I had this same problem as you; I went on a decade-long hiatus of not reading.
Now I read every day, more or less.
Don't go for the "famous" ones; go for the ones you know you'll enjoy, so to speak.
A bit hard to explain so forgive me if I'm not doing it well.

The list seems a bit too standard for my taste. I'm not sure if there's really a point to following it closely. I wonder why they separated it between physical print and e-books? Ah well. Opinions and all that.

Reply to The 'American Dirt' Controversy, Explained by BurtBruh
I'll admit:
This whole controversy is still a bit "new" to me.
I do think that the whole thing could've been handled better. And the excerpts that people showed me seemed like is was very "Hispanderizing" of the characters.
Ah well. I know some people say it was "overblown" but I can see why people would be upset, even if the news item did gain more traction compared to other stories of its kind.
