Nope. The people trying to pass these things have not mentioned a desire to commemorate it or recognize it as part of Abenaki lore. Nor do they take steps to recognize the numerous other Native places that have been lost to development or time. This comment was related to people like this politician who have a chest thumping loyalty to this symbol of NH. Unless I’m mistaken and he has a motivation to help provide visibility to the plight of Natives

I like that this is a start. What needs to happen is that zoning needs to change so that this is repeatable and could be a condo or co-op type set up so that the residents can own. Unfortunately most towns have minimum square footage requirements for new builds which makes creating housing for single people or couples almost impossible within the lower to middle range.

Try potassium nitrate. They sell it as “stump remover”. You basically drill holes and pour it in. It speeds up the decomposition. So you can then go back a few weeks later and hit with an axe or sledgehammer to clean up. You’ll need to touch it up once the part below the ground rots and the ground settles

Since the state needs it to be legal federally to allow for state controlled sales, a good interim step would be to fully legalize the possession of it and possibly home growing. That way people still have access by growing their own or traveling an hour in any direction but won’t be subject to the arcane laws

Unless it’s a big storm, should be fine if you leave enough time and are prepared to go slower. Only tough stretch is going through Franconia Notch on 93 as it can get real windy and slick.
