We would buy our mothers gifts from there. 20 some years ago I purchased from them a ~16”cast iron frying pan for the holidays and my mother laughed so hard when she saw what we got her. My response was she asked for a larger frying pan… so I bought the largest they had. She still has it but I doubt she can lift it easily. It’s always a funny story when it comes up.

Centennial Light

In 1976, the fire department moved to Fire Station #6 with the bulb; the bulb socket's cord was severed for fear that unscrewing the bulb could damage it. It was deprived of electricity for only 22 minutes during the transfer, which was made in a specially designed box and with full firetruck escort. An electrician was on hand to install the bulb into the new fire station's emergency generator.

Used to report potholes all the time to 311. Took months if not years to get a response or fix. sadly the fix is almost always temporary and degraded within a month. A bunch of time they would say they could not find an issue. Started reporting it on Twitter and has a slight better response but was still negligence on the city’s part imo. I have pretty much given up on 311 doing anything. I have had open tickets closed due to (I think) the local inspector trying not to have a list of open tickets at the end of the year. Only for me to respond that the issue is still present and they reopen the ticket under a new #. I have had inspectors call me and tell me it’s not their job to tell contractors to keep the sidewalk and street clean when they dump onto the street construction debris.

Csx who I think owns it is run by a board looking just for profit in the short term. It’s all about penny pinching. They will not fix it until they have to. The installation of Netting was probably forced on them. If you do a 311 report for unsafe conditions on the falling debris dangers they will put more net up or maybe start to fix it.

A big group of the people we think have high-beams may only have aftermarket replacement LED or other high output bulbs not rated for their vehicles light reflectors. High-beams are not always brighter but are only made to flood more area with the light compared to running lights that are made to be focused on the road.

“LED bulbs make the problem worse. While halogen filaments deliver 360-degree illumination, LED bulbs typically emit light with a pair of back-to-back 180-degree planes. When LED alignment gets skipped, oncoming drivers are blinded, as are drivers ahead of them in traffic. Poorly aimed headlamps are especially bothersome with pickup trucks and SUVs due to the vehicle height.” https://arstechnica.com/cars/2020/03/how-do-we-stop-people-blinding-other-drivers-with-aftermarket-leds/amp/

Alignment of these lights is a major issue too that I think should be addressed at every inspection as that can show if a cars lights are working properly and not just blinding oncoming traffic.

If find that the light is very glaring or hard on your eyes especially during early in the morning or late day you should see your eye doctor about any possible issues. My father (77) realized he had an issue when he kept thinking people had their high-beams on. Turns out he has cataracts.

Also Astigmatism is a possibility for people that feel everyone’s high-beams are on. You should see your eye doctor as it can be corrected. https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/8576-astigmatism

I have a astigmatism that is annoying driving at night.

Mac, Charlie and Dennis are better at it and get paid. They show up in a limo in proper attire and get the job done. Frank may have the plan but It’s all about the wild card. Frank is busy trying to seduce the lawyer.

I’m a small business close to greensgrow. I also had a large check stolen 4 months ago. It has impacted a bunch where I’m picking bills to pay. For my business and for someone who is already bad in debt I could see it causing them to close. If you can’t pay your employees, vendors or rent you don’t last long.

I thought it was a woman who was obviously not well doing the same thing on Chestnut a few months back. But she was just screaming not making any sense.

I saw an obviously mentally ill person destroying planters on Chestnut a few months back. She could be back at it.
