Reply to A team of people studying noise pollution in Providence says the city is inordinately loud for its size – a problem that impacts public health as well as the environment. by GoxBoxSocks
Anecdotally, Providence is super loud. I came from Boston where I live in a bunch different neighborhoods and it was never as loud as Providence. Even living on hope st Providence is incredibly loud practically all night. It would be great to reduce the level of ambient noise but I can’t imagine solving an abstract problem is going to happen when seeming moly simple problems like fixing the roads never happens.

Getting funding for an established business through crowdfunding is really sketchy. If a business with years of financial records can’t access a small amount of capital through traditional means, they’re clearly in a lot of trouble. It’s disingenuous to seek out investment from the community without a clear understanding of the financial position of the business.

We’re in south Kingstown and it’s pretty good. The special educators have been really excellent but, like everywhere, there aren’t enough resources. It’s also tough to differentiate for everyone when class sizes are so large and they’re lacking resources. There is also a correlation between how much time and energy you can spend putting pressure on the school in a non-adversarial way and the level of support you get. Our son has been successful here and we love the town.

I didn’t know that. I just assumed RI allowed alcohol because it was where everyone went to get tattooed.

Morality based laws from a long time ago. Liquor stores weren’t allowed to be open on Sundays in MA 15 years ago.

This is the most helpful comment. Fish that is safe for sushi has just been deep frozen for a set number of days. It has nothing to do with the quality of the meat.

No problem, I also forgot to mention the RI Mountain Biking facebook group is where all the RINEMBA rides get posted.

Ride4beers on Strava has weekly rides on Friday night. RINEMBA has rides Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights. Join Intergalactic MTB on Facebook for Wednesday night rides. Participate in a few of those group rides and you’ll meet plenty of people. Also, it’s hunting season so you have to wear 200 square inches of blaze orange everywhere but Lincoln woods.

I have ridden my bike through the main URI campus and the bay campus and it’s pretty amazing how bad the bay campus buildings are comparatively. Just from the outside, as a casual observer, it’s clear that part of campus needs to be revamped.
