I live in one of the rougher areas of Springfield, and the only crime I've experienced is petty theft. Got a ladder and 2 gas cans stolen from me. They went through my car, too, but I don't keep anything valuable in my car for a reason.

That was a few years ago. The police presence has increased in my area and the results have been showing. I'm not a fan of cops either, but at least they seem to be trying.

Went there for a semester and it was the first major event that pushed me towards aethism if that tells you anything.

I was there in early 2000s and the rules for attending were weird, like you had to dress formally and you weren't allowed to go to movie theaters.

I played World of Warcraft on a laptop in the student break area and I got a lot of dirty looks for it, even though I played with no sound and kept to myself. I think they just disagreed with video games entirely.

Every girl I met tried to get into a very serious relationship with me very quickly and I was not in a place to settle down. I heard lots of rumors of people going there just to find someone to marry.

On top of that, the church I was attending and had given me scholarships started having a bunch of bad scandals get uncovered. Like really bad stuff.

Anyway, I didn't come back for the 2nd semester.

Dunno how it has changed in the last 20ish years, not much from looking at the outside.

I've noticed this pattern to, and it's always when there's no one behind me, free and clear for miles. It's some impulse to be in front of someone, and they'll be in a hurry to pull out in front of me, then drive 5-10 under the limit.

There's no one behind me, every single time. They could've waited 3 seconds for me to pass, then pull into the lane.

I live North side, Grant Beach area, so I will toss my experience in here. Been in this house 5 years now, and I can say the drug problem is pretty rough around here (deals are made at the nearby park) but SPD has really been cracking down in my neighborhood.

Cons from my 5 years here: My garage is a seperate building that doesnt lock. I have had 2 empty gas cans and a ladder stolen from me. Oddly enough they never took my mower or the bikes. Just the gas cans and the ladder.

I left my car unlocked once and someone went through it looking for stuff. Luckily they completely missed my wallet which was in a side pocket. They stole a Dasani water and that was it.

The alley behind my house is littered with so much garbage because a couple houses on my street toss their garbage back there in lieu of paying for trash service.

Pros:

My rent is insanely low for a house. $500 a month.

The house itself is really roomy and everything is in great condition.

Most of the appliances were new when I moved in.

Big fenced yard for my kid and my dog. Walking distance to the school and park for my kid.

Neighbors have all been incredibly friendly, albeit a little odd at times.

Near to pretty much anything I could ever need.

Crime rates are shown to be high in the area but I've had little to no issues that have been super concerning.

True, true. When I'm coming in from Nixa, I always hit that middle lane and take it straight through past Republic RD cause it's usually flowing pretty good. The lanes on either side are a nightmare though.

This is the main bottleneck of the area. Campbell northbound into Republic westbound left turn lane always overflows back into the regular lane.

Easy to tell who commutes it everyday because they get in the right lane like 4 lights ahead to avoid the overflow from people turning onto Republic.

Had Quantum before they swapped to Brightspeed. I've had zero issues except for the one day a week or so back when everyone was having problems, but it was solved by the next day.

I had Mediacom before that and it was hell. Speeds were garbage and they kept jacking our prices up. I think I pay 1/3 of what I was paying Mediacom and my speeds on Brightspeed are usually 900+ down and up. Would recommend them.

Noticed someone else mentioned customer service is trash for Brightspeed, but tbh, customer service has been trash for every internet service I have ever had. They all hire out to other countries.

Same here, all day. Grant Beach area. It seems to freeze up for about a minute and then fix itself, but it's very frustrating lmao.
