Thank you so much for coloring and sorting by year! Those are extremely useful for understanding how many bank failures occurred in a certain period and their total amount.

Unfortunately, that says more about your familiarity with large regional banks than anything. At least six of the 50 largest banks in the US are in that diagram (Fifth Third, KeyCorp, Ally, Comerica, Banco Popular, Synovus), plus two more that are top 50 sized but excluded from the list for technical reasons (First Financial, Zion's). All but First Financial are traditional banks that have been around for more than 100 years.

Thanks for checking! I'm surprised at how little the R² value changed - might as well stick with linear.

It's bipolar - either the safest or the most dangerous. ValuJet was also founded as a low-cost carrier in the 90s, and they were the definition of unsafe.

The other passengers might be a bit spirited, and they might bring their own spirits, but the only spiriting away on Spirit should be to your destination (assuming your flight isn't cancelled or mega-delayed...)
Large low-cost carriers in the US and Europe tend to have pretty good safety records. Spirit (est. 1993) has never had a fatal accident, nor have JetBlue (1998), Frontier (1994), Allegiant (1997), EasyJet (1996), or Ryanair (1984).

One small part of the answer is evolution. Some asymmetries can be an evolutionary disadvantage. Take different leg lengths for example: the uneven load on each leg, knee, and foot increases the risk of stress fractures, recurring pain, and more. Not a great trait to pass on.
