It's a thin finish, not too rough. Mostly, I took issue that it wasn't level, but I guess what can I expect from wood. It was rocking so I just taped some shelf liner underneath to give it some give and friction since the feet on it aren't that grippy either.

One other thing is that it is not perfectly flush either, you can see it is nearly meeting the board in the middle but tapers down in height at the corners.

I'll accept it for what it is though, I like the look.

Haha yeah! I lost my speedcube at the airport I think and decided to try the 356 and see what the fuss is about with the magnets. Definitely a nicer step up after getting used to it, but tbh I'm not that good of a speedcuber, shortest time is somewhere in the 40 seconds marks.
