I’m not sure I’ve ever seen such an absolute revolt by a nations people against the state.

The unions, the students, cabinet ministers, and masses and masses of citizens.

Israel and France’s people are really taking other democracies to task and showing us how you exhibit the will of the people.

Yeah, Blair’s actors a little too stocky when the actual man was quite wiry.

They also made him a little too openly car salesman sleazy, I know a lot of us know that he IS that sleazy but it doesn’t change the fact that he WAS extremely charismatic and people initially liked him until he mass murdered innocents when he became Bush Jr’s Bitch.

Denise Crosby, Tasha Yar on Star Trek, didn’t really know him growing up and tried to use a different last name when she went to theater school so as to not ride on his fame.

She claims her classmates never let it go though and eventually she just decided to lean in and see if she could use it to her advantage.

TIL Video game artist, Claire Hummel, observed fan-drawn porn of one of her characters, Lutece of BioShock; was so irritated by the anachronistic undergarments that she posted a guide on drawing time-accurate undergarments. She didn't discourage risque fan art as she herself had drawn lewd fanart

TIL of John R. Baylor the self-proclaimed 'governor' of Arizona who was a Confederate Colonel whose self-appointment was later approved by Jefferson Davis. Baylor gave orders to exterminate the indigenous Apache and when Davis got wind of it he rescinded the orders as well as Baylor's governorship.

TIL General Hancock chose to sacrifice an entire regiment to save the Union Army during the Civil War. The 1st Minnesota Infantry Regiment, 250 men, was ordered to charge a brigade of roughly 1200 men. They suffered a staggering 82% casualties; the largest loss by any surviving U.S unit in a day.

TIL James Brady, who was paralyzed during the attempted assassination of Reagan, was allowed to keep his title of Press Secretary for the duration of the administration. He was considered to be on 'leave-of-absence'. His successor Larry Speaks used the title Acting Press Secretary for seven years.

TIL Pope John Paul II forgave his attempted assassin Mehmet Ali Ağca who shot him four times in 1981. At the Pope's request, the Italian President pardoned Ağca of the crime and he was deported back to Turkey. Ağca requested to meet Pope Francis in 2014 but Francis chose to decline.
