Yes, and yes. The magnetic field has flipped before, and during the transition the magnetic field is very weak.

However IIRC it takes on the order of hundred to thousands of years, so probably not something we'll have to worry about. Although the timeline in the article OP is referring to seems to state it's happening faster than we previously thought. (IIRC, In the 90's the core was spinning faster than the planet, by 2009 it was spinning slower)

Landlord forces her to keep her business closed for 6 months because they didn't repair the roof in a timely manner and then surprised Pikachu face when she can't pay rent because her business wasn't open... Unbelievable.

Why would she be required to pay rent if the location was uninhabitable due to the roof? Sounds like she needs a lawyer pro bono to tell her landlord to fuck off. I hope someone like the ACLU helps her.

Aren't you then just exacerbating the issue of high rents and pricing people out of their neighborhoods? There will always be demand for housing with easy access to NYC. I doubt rent prices in JC would go down from expanding the path. Yes it would increase property values but it would further gentrify areas where people of low income rent and would be forced out. The solution is to build more affordable housing skyward so there is a greater supply of units available in the areas that need lower rents.
