Aside from the political issues around whales, the lobster are moving steadily north to cooler waters, and someday Maine won’t have much of a lobster fishery left. That’s the real issue.

The houses along the main road deck themselves out quite nicely. The town office decorates a spruce on their lawn. That’s about it in my little town of about 1,500 lol.

I know it’s not candy, but we can’t leave out whoopie pies! The origins are disputed, but Labadie’s Bakery in Lewiston is thought to be the first to sell them in 1925.

True, but that 1% of the time we need to reference them is the reason we keep records. Like the old saying, ‘I’d rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.’

Yes, my mail and packages from USPS used to go from the Southern Maine distribution center in Scarborough right to my post office, but now it goes from Southern way up to Eastern Maine distribution in Hampden and then over to me (I live about an equal distance from Scarborough and Hampden, so it creates a big triangle for all my mail), which has resulted in items sent even from nearby taking a week when it used to take a few days.

Whatever it is, it’s clearly political, judging by the one guy in the center with his ‘NRA’ hat carefully cropped into frame while the top of everyone else’s hat is cropped out.

The stretch of route 4 in Wilton too (population less than 4k), in just a couple of miles there are at least 4, and another getting ready to open. I don’t get how they can all compete that close to each other, but it’s been years now. They should rename it route 420.
