Cult classics are by definition not critic darlings and some are often mediocre or bad, but viewers love them to bits and they get a dedicated fandom.

I think you mean movie snobs although some of them lean more onto artsy movies and bash superhero films as too shallow or smth. (I mean they are shallow but that's ok)
