15k under budget so she goes and pays $100 too much for what should be a $30 keyboard.

Tell her it's not what you expected and not what you needed. Apologize that you wont be using it but instant that if anyone in the office needs an upgrade you are sure they will love it.

I would further, shortly, explain that building keyboards is a bit of a hobby for you and a store bought board would be like handing a TV dinner to a chief.

Retro tv disco took 8 months. I got it December 2022.

8bit neon took 6 months. I got it January 2023.

Retro tv galaxy was ordered November 2022. Still "cooking".

And ill be buying nearly $250 worth in caps this GB to get an Esc, Enter, and Spacebar.

Why? Because JellyKeys has proven they will finish GBs and they will look amazing. Art takes time. As an artist i understand this. And i know rushing it will only result in an inferior product.

I will always support artists taking time to perfect their product verse trying to push out higher quantities.

P.S. After i saw how great the first 2 sets were I ordered 2 of the retro tv galaxies and a spaceman stand. I wouldnt spend money like this with any other artisan company aside from maybe Dwarf Factory.

I dont think you know whats going on. Dont pretend its clear.

Edit: Look... i too once had 2 GBs "cooking" with JellyKeys. And i too got upset when i saw new GBs come out before mine finished. I was even more upset when i realized i wanted to keep joining GBs but as time went on kwpt wondering where my stuff is. Im not going to keep joining GBs if theyre not going to send me anything.

So i let a GB go by that i wanted.

Then my retro tv showed up and i was blown away. Then not long later my 8bit backspace showed up.

Now im full team jellykeys. Their stuff is insane. And they are constantly doing weekly raffles while still producing their GBs. This isnt something to be upset about. Your GB is coming. I promise you when you get yours youll wish you werent hating on them before. Yes it sucks when a GB is delayed. But frankly thats the nature of a GB. Sometimes deadlines get hit, often times not. If youre not okay waiting it sounds like crowd funded projects arent your thing. Preorders are your thing because the product is mostly finished and doesnt need your money to be finished. Thats not true for a GB. If you dont like that concept then stick to preorder and in stock products.

Not group buy goods and services fam. Its in the fine print. Dont like it dont join a fucking group buy and go buy in stock parts.

Also they arent even an american company. So good luck trying to leverage anything against them. Again, dont like it dont join the gb.

Just use youtube. But all kits should have a build guide created by the makers. Try asking for it on their discord or look on the GB sale site for a tutorial link.

Alexotos building the QK75. Not a full blown tutorial but you can see the steps taken and Alexotos does a good job explaining things. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRI93NcYLDg&ab_channel=alexotos

The GOAT's switch lubing tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44Wv4OGdmu4&ab_channel=TaehaTypes

The GOATS stab tuning tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usNx1_d0HbQ&ab_channel=TaehaTypes

It makes me sad realizing people just dont turn to the same goats of this hobby anymore. I feel like names like Alexotos and Taeha are being said less and less often which is a shame. They build this community and still have some of the best tutorials out there to learn with.

I lube switches every thursday while watching Critical Role playing dungeons and dragons live on twitch.

It's 4 hours plug intro and break so I can typically lube a full set of switches and if I have a board ready I can typically get stabs and the thing builds during one 4 hour long show.
