I've been playing for well over half my life, and still, it can be tough. Took like 8 years for me to be even good at improv, and I still can't read sheet music. I just learn everything by ear and write by feeling. It's tough to learn, it takes many years. But you'll get there.

Try listening to more obscure artists. That's where you'll find the real gems. My favorite way to find more music I'd like is by looking at who opened for my favorite bands on their past tours and then going their "fans of ____ also like" sections.

I'm 20 and I feel old, being in the music industry. It's just how it is.
