I think some of the best horror films ever made were directed by not necessarily “horror directors”:

The Exorcist

The Shining

An American Werewolf In London

Alien

…to name a few.

District was nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars of I’m not mistaken. Doesn’t belong here.

Movies (and any art really) can completely stigmatise issues and have done, I just don’t agree with this particular example.

The ‘character being haunted by visions/ghosts/demons etc and nobody believes them/thinks they’re losing it’ is a horror trope as old as time. I’m 100% sympathetic to mental health issues and those with them, but I honestly think this film was just a strong horror in the tradition of this sub-genre.

She starts investigating it quickly because she immediately starts getting the visions herself. I think you’d have a good case if it turned out she was imagining things all along, but the fact we as viewers know explicitly before the opening credits this is real sort of dis-credits that.

Inside (À l'intérieur) (2007)

I think the first Austin Powers didn’t do great box office, but it found an audience on home video which lead to the (hugely successful) sequel.

Agree on the Potter films. They’re all fucking interminable.

I don’t think he’s ‘into her’, but he definitely takes a shine to her and sympathises with her by the end. I imagine if the prom had gone without incident, he would have remained that way and been a friend to her. Makes the finale all the more heartbreaking actually.
