In that county in Georgia, there are two options if you want to work in law enforcement: the Sheriff Department or the Police Department. For those who want to work as a Deputy Sheriff, everyone starts as a Corrections Officer. That’s the only path. And, in general, people looking to get into law enforcement (in that area) prefer the Sheriff Department over the Police Department for the overall benefits and work environment.
