His acting in Less Than Zero proved that. Of course, he was living that character at the time, but it definitely set him apart from his eccentric-sidekick roles in Back to School and Johnny B. Good.

I’ve actually been to one of these, about 15 years ago in rural Arkansas. And, yes, there was shit all over the basketball court. So much so that a couple of people with pooper scoopers roamed around the whole time, scooping up donkey doodies.
