Enphin - Moth

also on Spotify

The First track on B-side of their latests album End Cut.

Aptly named, ”Moth,” reaffirms that Gary Neumann nod. More pitchshifted vocals tentatively in the pocket of a minimalist patchwork of chisel-like bass blasts, glitchy drum beats and cutting keyboard tracks, coming through the aether a dejected and romantic reprieve and back into the wall of dance on the title track.

Enphin - Protocosmic

Slightly industrial or electric, but very post-metal in spirit. From the latests album of the Finnish group formerly known also as Mr. Peter Hayden and PH.

"...and the electrogoth vibes of “Perpetual Night” and “Nothing,” the interlude-ish soundscapes of “The Test View,” “Kaiverrus,” “Drones” and the penultimate “Raunioina,” the meditative pulsations and synthesizer wash of “Moth,” “Communion”‘s heavier-landing beat and the more frenetic programmed chaos of “Protocosmic,” the four-piece bounce through moods and styles with out-there post-krautrock futurism and a Ulverian neo-New Wave atmosphere, progressive in construction and primal in much of the underlying rhythm despite the elaborate and well-mixed layers surrounding."

Death/doom influenced raw post-metal from Finland. FFO early Katatonia, Isis, Algalloch

“Among others deals with hypocrisy, the human ability to avoid being responsible for one's actions. How a person can lie to oneself to make the reality seem more acceptable. Protagonist is not an exception, but one among the others.”

Enphin - Perpetual Night
from the album 'End Cut' [2022]

One of the most easy access pieces from the album described as post-krautrock, ulverian neo-new wave and psychedelic doom.

Enphin is Finnish four-piece earlier known as Mr. Peter Hayden, PH or just by their PH-monogram insignia. Read more...

"The Scandinavian four-piece have exhibited a great deal of sonic experimentation, achieving a unique interdimensional sound."

Everything is Noise

"It's the type of doom that doesn't outright crush you, but instead lures you so far into the void that by the end, you're not sure which way is out… and you're never going to."

Metal Injection

"What Enphin have accomplished here, this unsettling erudite entry into their storied oeuvre goes beyond mere influences, however storied, into a perfectly nightmarish stratosphere."

Veil of Sound

"Although today the band is more song-driven and makes shorter songs, its music remains hard to digest. In fact, it feels like the band has reached some kind of creative apex, whose results are diverse, colorful and always in motion."
Inferno Magazine

"The four-piece bounce through moods and styles with out-there post-krautrock futurism and a Ulverian neo-New Wave atmosphere, progressive in construction and primal in much of the underlying rhythm despite the elaborate and well-mixed layers surrounding... Suffice it to say that anywhere Enphin go, they establish a claim on their territory that speaks to the members’ extensive history in trying something new, finding what works, and then using it to swallow listeners whole.”
