Maybe check with your doctor before you blame the headset.
I get ear wax lodged up in my ears that needs to be evacuated once a year or so, and if I don't it feels like I have an ear infection. That pain gets exacerbated when pressure is involved.
You could just need to clean your ears out. You can use olive oil to help soften up old ear wax.
