My K702's were my first "better" headphones I bought many years ago. Since then I have bought and sold, god knows how many, yet the K702's remain. Now they sit with my DT1990 and Grado rs2e. I'm in a good place for now...... for now. 😁

HD 650/6XX don't have a wow factor, and that's kind of their thing. They just sound right to me. IMO, a wow factor comes from something being over done, whether its soundstage, treble etc. But after the novelty wears off, it becomes bothersome. I think people love the hd650/6XX and 600 because they are just easy and wonderful to listen to, even for long periods. They take a bit of getting used to if you're coming from something with a little more "pazzaz". But long term the 650/6XX are great. I suggest listening to them for a week or two exclusively and then go back to the akg and Hifiman and you'll probably feel differently about them..... or maybe not. 😁

If you want good headphones, the hd600/650 is an excellent choice. They are very good. Once you have them, listen to Spotify if you already have it. If you're not happy, at that point it won't really cost you anything extra to move to a higher quality streaming service like Tidal, Qobuz, I've been using Deezer for about 2 yrs and have been very happy with the quality and interface of it. But getting the headphones is the first step and then work on the source if you think you can get a better result.
