It would be really boring, because everyone would just shoot the second they are close enough (which is still outside the box). It would basically be like if basketball only had 3 pointers.

All songs start off from being improvised at one point. It's not like you plan it ahead and then use mathematics or science or whatever to construct it. No, you jam it out and at some point there is a song (or, like with Paul McCartney's "Yesterday", you dream of a melody at night).
