I went to Eustasis for several months and never saw the same “provider” twice because they use a “shared provider model.” Also, I never saw an MD, only a RN or nurse practitioner, although I think they billed my insurance for MD services. Eustasis is a profit-maximizing operation. Patient care is completely secondary based on my experience.

I use the drive up donation center at the thrift store at Kansas Expressway and West Battlefield Road. I believe it benefits disabled veterans.

I really like my internist at Cox Ferrell-Duncan, Dr. Brad Wiley. When it comes to psychiatric care, however, he may refer you to Eustasis, but don’t go there. You will NEVER see a MD and IMHO it is a mostly a profit-seeking organization. The patients are exclusively seen my RNs and nurse practitioners. I am not saying they cannot provide good care, but I am saying that the model at Eustasis does NOT allow them to. Other than Eustasis, there are virtually no other psychiatrists taking new patients in Springfield that I know of, sadly. Medical care in the US currently sucks. Doctors are under time limits and now seem to type notes at the same time they are supposed to be listening to patients. Everyone is in the same crappy boat.

You may need to go to a pain clinic like the one at Mercy’s Spine Center to get controlled substances. Many pcps will not prescribe them anymore.

Which store were you in? What location? I have found some locations to be very customer oriented and others not so much.

People are quick to recommend going to churches for money for good causes. While some larger churches do have funds for these purposes, as a pastor’s wife, I can tell you that most small churches do not, unless they take up a special collection. In reality, most small churches (i.e. less than 100 people) get by on a shoestring budget and barely cover their own bills.
